Thank Folk It’s Friday with the Steve Eggs Band, Hannah Scott and Simon Stanley Ward
Join us for a pre-Folk In The Park evening on Friday 15th, with special guests to get you in the mood as the excitement builds for south London's finest music festival all day Saturday. We're delighted that we can now confirm a full bill starring the Steve Eggs Band, Hannah Scott and Simon Stanley Ward.
Formed over a decade ago in south London, the Steve Eggs Band have become firm favourites at the Sound Lounge and beyond. They launched their excellent Imperfect Stranger album at the venue in April, the latest from a vibrant four-piece rooted in classic melodic rock. They've performed extensively on the local live music scene, drawing frequent comparisons to the spirit of Tom Petty but with a fine original catalogue of their own. The quartet features Steve Eggs (lead vocals, rhythm guitar), Jon Kershaw (lead guitar, vocals), Mark Taylor (drums, vocals) and Peter Wass (bass, vocals). Come and enjoy the relaxed on-stage chemistry and outstanding musicianship of a band who unfailingly get Sound Lounge audiences rocking!
Hannah Scott is another frequent performer on our stage and all around the UK, her powerful and poignant songwriting once again on full display on her latest album Absence of Doubt. In 15 years as a performer, the Suffolk-born artist has honed the ability to create subtly powerful and emotionally piercing material such as the current album's 'Bigger Than My Body' and 'Carry You Out.' Hannah has also opened for Madeleine Peyroux, performed a BBC Radio 2 session for Dermot O'Leary and had her song 'No Gravity' featured in the smash hit TV series Grey's Anatomy.
Simon Stanley Ward has been performing almost non-stop since his teenage years. Over the last decade, he's been playing his original music, both solo and with his band the Shadows of Doubt, across the UK and in northern Spain. Described as a country singer at heart with a streak of the surreal running through him, his live show is engaging, energetic and constantly evolving. At its best his performances can be gut-wretchingly moving and moments later self-deprecating and hilarious. His influences come from far and wide and include Elvis, Bob Dylan and John Prine.
Tickets for this unique Friday night start from free entry, and include Pay What You Can Afford tiers at £5, £10, £15 and £20.
