
Sutton Music Centre Bass Day '26
The Sutton Music Centre and The Sound Lounge are hosting some special performances and an opportunity to hang out with like-minded musicians and enthusiasts:
Laurence Cottle is a bass legend, composer, and producer, known for his versatility, virtuosity, and innovative approach to music. He’s played and recorded with an incredible range of artists including The Alan Parsons Project, Chris Farlowe, Black Sabbath, Brian Eno, Eric Clapton and Van Morrison.
We're fortunate to have him presenting an inspiring masterclass and bringing his band, including Ian Thomas - drums and Mornington Lockett -sax, along to perform a set of groovy tunes demonstrating why Laurence is one of the most in demand bassists in the UK. This is a group of world class musicians that having being playing together in various settings for decades!
Between the masterclass and the gig there will be the opportunity to connect with fellow bass players and hang out with the Bass Day workshop leaders.
The event will conclude with guest bassists Yolanda Charles and Mike Nichols joining the band and jamming as a bass trio!
