Slow Motion Cowboys + opening set by frontman Pete Fields

New Orleans' Slow Motion Cowboys are the soulful country ramblings of songwriter Pete Fields.

Prevalent these days in the New Orleans magnetic country scene, Pete and his band play often to the dancing crowds of southern Louisiana and beyond bringing an uptempo groove behind razor sharp lyrics culled from the struggle of modern times.

With roots in CA, New Mexico and Texas the band has worked stages throughout the US as well as the UK, building a strong following through their releases on the Muscle Shoals' label Arkam Records.

Their new album Wolf of St. Elmo was released in April, 2025, and a track from it features on the cover-mounted Sounds Of The New West CD in the October issue of Uncut magazine.

"In April," wrote Uncut's Peter Watts, "Margo Cilker announced that 'one of my favourite songwriters' had released a new album, and promptly began covering the record’s opening song 'Invisible Stars' in concert. She was talking about Pete Fields, who records as Slow Motion Cowboys, and his beautiful new album, Wolf Of St Elmo. It’s a wonderful throwback to early 2000s Americana; languid country with a cosmic backwash that underlies plaintive songs about loss and heartache but always with an undercurrent of hope. Its intention is contained within one couplet from 'Invisible Stars' that enraptured Cilker: 'A song could have a thousand notes/I’m just trying to show the feeling.'"
