We’re delighted to host the launch party for the new book by our very own Paul Sexton, on the very day it comes out!

‘Rock Goes To College’ tells the lesser-known and often hilarious story of the heyday of the UK's university gig circuit in the 1960s and ‘70s. It features the memories of dozens of the artists, social secretaries, students and others who were part of this vital network, which hosted rock giants such as The Who and Fleetwood Mac and near-unknowns in their earliest days, including Genesis, Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd and Queen.

The book features a foreword by Mark Knopfler, who also contributes to the narrative with fellow notables such as Nick Mason, Joan Armatrading, Justin Hayward, Suzi Quatro, Graham Gouldman, Bill Bruford, Maddy Prior and many more. Also featured are many of the one-time students who booked shows as "ents. secs" before going on to stellar careers in the music industry, such as Harvey Goldsmith, Chris Wright, Paul Conroy and John Giddings.

The evening, which is supported by publishers Mudlark/HarperCollins, will feature live performances of songs from the era and chat with some contributors. The book will be available to buy, signed on the night by Paul and sold by the Sutton branch of Waterstones. Doors open at 7pm and limited FREE tickets are available here.
