New Bands Night with Mokat, Lost Cause and Moonrise

Our monthly New Bands Night, curated by Matt Helm, gives new bands the opportunity to perform in their local venue. 3 bands get half an hour each to showcase their music. Performances start at 7.30pm.

MoKat - A dynamic and eclectic band, the musical brainchild of five talented students from the Academy of Contemporary Music (ACM) in Guildford. They have taken their passion for all things music and transformed it into a high-energy, genre-blending experience that captivates audiences wherever they perform.

Formed in the vibrant and creatively charged environment of ACM, MoKat thrives on diversity, seamlessly blending their own original compositions with powerful covers of iconic bands such as Royal Blood, The Beatles, and Arctic Monkeys. This unique mix of influences allows them to create a sound that is both familiar and refreshingly new, appealing to a broad range of music lovers.

Each member of MoKat brings their own distinct talents and musical background to the table, resulting in a rich tapestry of sound that ranges from the raw and gritty to the melodically intricate. Original songs showcase their songwriting prowess and their ability to push the boundaries of contemporary music, while their covers pay homage to the legends that inspire them, all performed with their unique twist.

Lost Cause - Originating in Kingston-Upon-Thames, Lost Cause is a 5 piece band featuring Ruby, Kendall, Paula, Tjay, and Finn. With all three women being vocalists, they bring delicate, but efficient harmonies to the table. Kendall also plays bass, joined by Finn on guitar and Tjay on the drums, bringing an amazing sound to their alternative metal and indie pop. Lost cause features both the sounds of Bon Jovi and Billie Eilish, bringing different dynamics and energy onto the stage.

Moonrise - When night falls and the moon rises, we wake. This is because we are two uni students and a drummer. An indie band only a few months old, we started out playing covers at open mics before recently introducing some well-received originals to our setlist. Imagine Coldplay, Arctic Monkeys, and The Smiths, but younger, mostly southern, and with better hair.
