Hannah & Keiron - a Sound Lounge fundraiser

This is the 2nd in a series of music fundraisers we are putting on to raise money for The Sound Lounge.

Our musician co-founders, Hannah White & Keiron Marshall, would like to bring our local community together to celebrate the venue as a cultural asset, and raise money to help keep it all going.

Everyone is welcome. As ever, there is no curfew for young people. We want everyone to come down and enjoy, regardless of whether you're able to donate or not. This is a night for everyone!

**BACKGROUND on fundraising.

The Grassroots Music Venue sector is one in crisis in the UK. We are losing music venues at the rate of one every 12 days. Putting on culture is expensive. Ticket income has to cover the artist fees, sound engineer fee, bookings team who spend a lot of time working with agents, managers & artists, graphic design and printing, PRS license fees and ticket platform fees. Most of the time the maths simply don't add up. Our busiest gigs are the ones with the highest artist fees. The venue costs don't even come into it. We need people to be spending money behind the bar in order to subsidise the music so we can cover our basic rent, rates and running costs. Every venue in the UK is working on tiny margins...if there are any margins at all. Those margins are achieved through activities which have nothing to do with original live music. But even where there is a small profit margin (up to 2.5% in this sector), it only takes a small event to throw a venue into vulnerable territory. At The Sound Lounge, we are putting on a series of fundraising events to help keep us going. We are grateful for any support you can offer. But don't forget, if you're not in a position to donate, our events are still for you. More than anything we want people to access live music because the benefits are out of this world!
