Gabriel Minnikin + Hannah Robinson
Join us for a classy night of folk and country sounds from Canadian star Gabriel Minnikin and highly regarded UK singer-songwriter Hannah Robinson.
Over his critically acclaimed career, Minnikin’s albums have been nominated for Best Americana, Best Country and Best Bluegrass awards. Originally from Nova Scotia, he did his time as an honorary Mancunian for nearly a decade.
At a young age the multi-instrumentalist became a sought-after session musician and songwriter internationally. He has toured Canada, America, the UK and the EU extensively. His album 'Sweert Nothings' was nominated for Americana/Bluegrass Recording of the Year at the Music Nova Scotia Awards.
His latest, 'Anne Lorraine,' was much praised, including by the Rocking Magpie, who wrote that it "arrived just in time to be something of a ‘musical palette cleanser’ at RMHQ." Minnikin continues to intrigue listeners with his unique brand of Canadiana.
Hannah Robinson is a frequent visitor to the Sound Lounge in Robbie McIntosh’s band, and she also delighted the audience at Paul Sexton's Live Archive night on Dusty Springfield's 'Dusty In Memphis' with her sensitive interpretations of songs from that classic album.
Hannah was also on the road a few months ago, singing and playing once again with John Illsley of Dire Straits. Robinson hails from the south coast of England and her music blends her distinctive voice with her rhythmic guitar style and lyrics rich with imagery. We also strongly recommend her ‘Holding Up The Sky’ EP.
