Conner Reeves stripped back set + Q&A with Paul Sexton
Conner Reeves is back, and we’re so excited that the London-born soul man has chosen the Sound Lounge for this intimate, stripped-back show, where his fans will have a unique chance to get up close and personal with him. His set will introduce songs from the excellent new album Ten Thousand Days and The Church of the Restoration, so called because it arrives more than 27 years (or 10,000 days) after his first album Earthbound - quite possibly a record-breaking gap between a debut and sophomore album.
That album included the memorable top 20 hits 'My Father's Son' and the title track, and as the national UK press hailed "a blue-eyed soul singer of remarkable abilities," Reeves visited the top 30 on three more occasions over the next two years. He was shortlisted for Best British Newcomer at the BRITS, played major events in front of millions of people and supported Whitney Houston and others on tour.
So what happened next? You can find out tonight, because before his live performance, Conner will be in conversation with music writer Paul Sexton about his unusual career path. “I've always followed my heart, even when it led me through chaos,” he says. Even if you know nothing about Reeves' storied past, Ten Thousand Days and The Church of the Restoration is a stunning record that combines incisive lyricism around grown-up themes with killer melodies and adhesive choruses. You can hear many of them, plus his signature songs, in this one-off gem of a show.
