We are so excited to be bringing Abdelkader Saadoun to The Sound Lounge, as part of his 2026 tour, for what promises to be an exotic night of roots and world music from this master musician and his sensational band.

Arabic dance is characterized by expressive hand and arm movements, intricate hip and torso gyrations, graceful footwork and rhythmic interpretation of music. Join Mel Simpson from 7pm for a short lesson so you can really feel Abdelkader Saadoun's glorious music! Algerian-born Abdelkader Saadoun is a renowned master of RAI music – which originates from traditional Algerian and world music (Chaabi, Kabil, Gnawa and Andalusian) and also encompasses Pop, Flamenco, Jazz, Funk, Rock, Reggae, Fusion, and Blues. He is a composer, singer, songwriter, educator, plays oud, mandola, percussion and drums. A formidable band leader with a great track record in bringing together musicians from diverse cultures to create dynamic live gigs which combine these different musical styles to extraordinary effect. He has worked in different schools as a drum teacher for more than 18 years. And has also organised different art and music events all around the UK. Abdelkader Saadoun has released several albums, and he, together with his band Takaleed, took part in the filming of the Harrison Ford movie 'Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny'. He has appeared on TV shows, radio stations and collaborated with other great musicians around the world. Saadoun has performed with Airto Moreira, Hossam Ramzy, Rabah Khalfa, London BBC Orchestra, Grand Union Orchestra and the Master Drummers of Africa. As well as performing with his own Rai band at WOMAD main stage, other major music festivals in the UK, around the world and shared the stage with Maxi Priest, INXS, Gloria Gaynor and many more.
